Manipuri is a free and spontaneous, easy and flowing dance form that is indigenous to the north-eastern state of Manipur. The origin of Manipuri dance dates back even before 33 A.D. making it the most ancient of the six classical dance styles of India.
This dance is the manifestation of a deeply ritualistic tradition, combined with a vitality with which an art form throbs only when it is shared by the community. Therefore every event in a person's life is celebrated through dance and music. Life is a celebration. It is a journey of the self towards uniting with the Universal Self.
